Glass Shower Door Options
You can get a custom shower door to fit most of your shower enclosure needs. In most cases the shower door can not be larger the 33" wide due to hardware limitations. The average glass shower door size is 28" wide and 72" tall. If your opening is larger than 33" we recommend adding an inline panel to the door. If your shower door must be over 33" make sure the hardware you plan to use will be able to support the size door you need. Also, keep in mind that if the door will be over 72" tall to get the weight of the door to see how many hinges will be needed either two or three. The number of hinges will be determined by the hardware vendor.



Glass Inline Panel Shower Enclosure
An inline shower enclosure with one panel is very common, you can have a glass shower door up to 33" wide and then a panel. Normal size door is 28" wide and standard shower enclosure heights are 72" tall. So for example,if your opening is 45" from wall to wall you could have a 28" door with a 17" wide panel. Here you have also two different ways to mount the door. You can mount the door hinges to the wall (recommended), or if you need the door to swing the other way you can also mount the door hinges to the inline panel. Attaching the door to the panel will be more expensive due to additional cut-outs required to attach the door to the panel, possible additional reinforcements for the panel and the 180° Glass-to-Glass hinges that will be required.



Two Inline Panel Enclosure (with door in the center)
Most clients like to have an inline shower enclosure with two panels if their wall to wall opening is large enough. Instead of using one large panel and a door you have two panels on each side of the door and the doors hinges would attach to one of the panels. Normal size door is 28" wide and standard shower enclosure heights are 72" tall.




Glass Shower Enclosure (with 90° return)
This type of shower enclosure is a door up to 33" wide with a 90° return panel. The door cannot exceed 33" wide because of hardware limitations. Normal size door is 28" wide and standard shower enclosure heights are 72" Tall.



Glass Shower Enclosure inline (with 90°return)
This is a common shower enclosure. The door can be mounted to the wall or the 90° return panel. The door also has an inline panel. If the door is attached to the wall it should not exceed 33" wide. If the door is attached to the 90° return it should not exceed 28" wide. A normal size door is 28" wide and normal height is 72" tall.



Glass Shower Enclosure (with inline and 90°partial)
This shower enclosure is commonly used when there is a tub or jacuzzi next to the shower. When requesting a quote for an enclosure like this make sure to let us know the height of the object that the partial panel will be on. A normal size door is 28" wide and 72" tall.



Inline Panel/ Partial Panel (with 90°return enclosure)
This shower enclosure is like the inline panel + partial 90 return, but your door with a panel has a cut out for the tub or jacuzzi. The inline panel is one piece with no break in the glass. You can also have two back to back inline panels next to the door as shown in the picture. The other way of doing this type of enclosure would be to have the panels on each side of the door, that way the break in the panel is for the door and looks normal. A normal size door is 28" wide and normal height is 72" tall.



Glass Neo Angle Shower Enclosure
The Neo Angle shower enclosures are corner enclosures that have a panel on each side of the door at a 45°angle. The door attaches to one of the panels with a 45° (135°) glass to glass hinge. The door cannot exceed 33" wide because of hardware limitations. A normal size door is 28" wide and standard shower enclosure heights are 72" tall.

Frameless Glass Shower Enclosures
This is the most popular shower enclosure of all of them. The panels are held only by clamps and silicone. The clamps connect to where the glass needs the most support and the silicone helps seal the 1/8" gaps between the walls and panels. One of the big questions when someone gets a quote for an enclosure is: Why are frameless glass shower enclosures more expensive than the framed enclosures? There are more fabrication requirements on a frameless enclosure than there is on a framed enclosure. For instance, the panels need holes that are drilled from both sides to provided a nice smooth hole. Anytime there is a glass panel to glass panel setup in an enclosure all components must line up 100% to ensure everthing fits together properly upon installation. Framed enclosures do not require as much fabrication. Most glass provider's offer the clamps in all the common finishes like chrome, gold, brass and brushed nickel. Other finishes are usually available by request.
